"Does it take away the personal touch?"
It removes the transactional bit — hovering to take an order. Staff still welcome guests, recommend dishes, check in on the food. That part doesn't go anywhere. What goes away is the clipboard.
"Will our customers actually use it?"
Post-COVID, scanning a QR code is as normal as EFTPOS. Anyone who'd rather talk to a staff member still can — the QR is an option, not a mandate.
"What if the internet goes down?"
Same as EFTPOS going down — you take orders by hand for the hour. Not a reason not to use it; just know your backup plan (you already have one).
"Our menu changes daily."
Mark things sold out in one click. Updating a price takes 10 seconds. The admin panel is designed to be used during service, not just setup.
"We're already on Uber Eats / MenuLog — does this replace them?"
No. Uber Eats handles delivery and brings you customers you wouldn't otherwise have — keep it. This handles your in-house customers (already at your table) and local pickup (customers coming to you anyway). Those orders don't need delivery. Uber Eats charges 25–30% commission on every order including pickup — for a customer who was already going to walk through your door. That's the gap this fills. Keep the platforms for delivery. Use this for everything else.
"Is it worth $39 a month?"
One extra dessert upsell per day covers it. One fewer order error per week covers it. If you take even 10 pickup orders a month through Uber Eats at a $25 average, you're paying them $75 in commission. This is $39. The maths is straightforward.
"What about special requests and allergies?"
There's a notes field on every order. Dietary tags are displayed on each item. The kitchen gets it all in writing — actually safer than a verbal relay.
